Can you please provide us a screenshot of the message you are getting that it prompted you to have upgrade to iOS 10? Also, get a screenshot of your current iOS version by going to > settings > about.

MS Lever 3 support called me today to ask me same questions over again, but had no answers, They claimed they could not reproduce the problem. I told them to erase the iPad 2 and start with a fresh iOS install (that's what I did). Also, I think it could be a regional issue, i.e., install may work off an Asian server, but not off Central US server.

I ran into the same install problem with Google app, but that's a legitimate message, since Google app is only available on iOS 10 & above. Also, I can use Google in a browser, so its not an issue.

A temporary workaround is installing Skype for iPhone on iPad 2. It works, but its very ugly.

I have the same issue with IPAD3 and same ios version.

i had to delete old skype as it was not working well and now i cannot reinstallold version as it is not available.

I recently had to reset my iPad 2 to factory settings (IOS 9.3.5). Now Skype won't install from the App Store -- re-install requires IOS 10, without an option for installing older version (like other apps, re-installed on the same device).

Please advise how to proceed.
